Slugs Love Beer!

Hi there Grandpa,

I know you enjoy old-fashioned tips for your garden and thought I'd share one I was taught many years ago and it actually works!

Slugs just love the taste and smell of beer. If you notice slugs are starting to invade your garden just put a small pan (like one of the tin ones you get with frozen meatpies) filled with beer in your garden. The slugs are drawn by the aroma, once inside the dish they actually drink the beer, get drunk and drown. You might have to do this every once in awhile during planting season but well worth getting rid of the slugs and you don't have to worry about using chemicals on your plants.
